The Goddard Institute of Space Studies has issued a report that shows a spike in temperature for October, making October 2008 the hottest on record and suddenly reversing a nearly 10 year cooling trend.
Since that's pretty surprising stuff, don't you think they would have examined the date more carefully? Well, no.
It took the people at Climate Audit studying the data to realize that the spike was almost totally from Russia. And when they looked more carefully, it turns out that most of Russia's October temperatures were exactly the same as their October temperatures. They just didn't bother to send in the new data.
