Obama's Grandmother Dies

My deep sympathy for the Obama family and especially the little girls who have lost their great-grandmother.

Madelyn Dunham, whom he called "Toot," essentially raised Barack Obama, first after his father abandoned the family and later when his mother, who had married an Indonesian, sent him back to Hawaii to be educated. From what he says in "Dreams From My Father," she was the most stable part of young Barack's life.
