To get a new congress. That would be a worthwhile investment.
After watching the congressional leadership blame John McCain for submarining a deal that was never in place, let's just remember that Democrats have the majority in both houses and can pass the legislation all by themselves.
Problem is, Americans are flooding the congressional offices with negative assessments of what they want to do; as I mentioned before, it's 50-50 between "no" and "hell no."
All representatives have the duty to make sure things are not just done quickly but done right. Playing the blame game now is the worst kind of political pandering. There are a lot of alternatives to be considered and the safeguards must be in place.
When they leave Washington in a few days these people are going to have to go home and look their constituents in the eye - and defend what they have done. Everyone is looking for cover.
Meanwhile, I will be watching the debate tonight - it's a go.
